Great, motivating book! Thompson shows us through her own grief how to get through the passing of her late first husband, Dale, with the help of God. She believes that earthly angels come in all shapes and sizes to help her in taking care of Dale and taking care of her after Dale passed away. Dale and Kay never lost their faith in God through their hardship during his illness and even after he died. She kept her faith in God. She never lost her perspective in God that she will persevere through the trials and tribulations. She amazes me. She doesn't take any credit. All the credit is owned toward God. Before Dale's passing, she leads on him. Afterwards, she leads towards God. She never once questions God but took it all in stride.

It can be hard to talk to young children about the difficulty of dealing with grief and loss, but Kay Thomson's Oh No, Where Did He Go! offers a thoughtful way of introducing the topic in a meaningful and helpful way. This book teaches the children that grief and loss does not always mean that you have to let yourself be succumbed with sorrow, sometimes you have to look on the brighter side.
Grief is a tough yet inevitable process to go through, most of the time we tend to forget that it's not just the adults who are going through the process - the children are also hurt and confused. It's nice to see authors who expand their vision and aim to cater books for all ages. Indeed very helpful!
Using the hermit crab as an analogy, Thompson wrote this book for kids to show them how to deal with death in clear, kid-friendly terms. It shows kids that life's journey doesn't end with death but continues onward with death on a different pathway. It shows kids that people, like the hermit crabs, move onto another 'shell' or body in the case of humans after they had crossed over to the other side.
This is an absolutely wonderful book that provides children with comfort and support during a difficult time. The stories, the illustrations and activities help children to express their emotions and learn to cope with their sadness. The book also offers helpful tips for parents on how to gently talk to children about grief and loss, making it valuable resource for the entire family.
